Requirements for Studying in Germany
Student Visa Requirements for Germany
To study in Germany, international students need a German National Visa (Type D) for programs lasting longer than 90 days. Key requirements include:
- Admission letter from a recognized German university or institutionValid passport and recent passport-sized photographs
- Proof of financial resources (Blocked Account with approximately €11,904 per year)
- Academic transcripts and educational certificates
- Proof of language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, TestDaF, or equivalent)
- Valid health insurance coverage
- Completed visa application form and visa fee payment receipt
- Attend a visa interview at German Embassy or Consulate
- APS Certificate (mandatory for Indian applicants)

Typical admission criteria include:
- Undergraduate Programs Completion of 12 years of schooling plus 1 year of university education in India, or successful completion of a Foundation Year (Studienkolleg) in Germany.
